Men, one dressed as Amish girl, try to lure Geauga kids into van

Parkman Township - Two men - one dressed as an Amish girl - tried to coax a handful of Amish children into their van as the group walked home from school Monday, authorities said.

The Geauga County Sheriff's Department has increased patrols along rural roads leading to Amish schoolhouses in response, said sheriff's spokesman John Hiscox. There are more than 50 Amish schools in the townships surrounding Middlefield, the center of Geauga's Amish settlement.

"Everyone's a little more antsy than they used to be," Hiscox said.
