#56 The SDCC PR juggernaut gets a'rollin', with this look at AiT/PlanetLar's slate for the coming year-- including Me & Sanderesess FIVE FISTS OF SCIENCE:
FIVE FISTS OF SCIENCE, by Matt Fraction and Steve Sanders, 120 pages, black and white, Summer 2005
“The Five Fists of Science is the story of Mark Twain and Nikola Tesla teaming up to bring about world peace by compulsion-- and how that peace will interfere with the plans of an evil science cabal led by Thomas Edison,” says writer Matt (LAST OF THE INDEPENDENTS) Fraction. “An all-out war between magic and science is fought on the streets of New York City in 1899, and it is an absolutely true story, up to a point.”
“I've tried to come up with something, but words cannot describe the near-insane, child-like rapture I experience when I work on this comic. It's almost criminal,” says artist Steven (ZOMBIE DINOSAUR) Sanders. “Can we say working on Five Fists of Science = The Total Science Boner” in a press release?”
“I've had more fun doing this book than anything else that I have ever done ever,” continued Fraction. “Writing it has been a joyous and pure experience that I've not really known since I was seven and making comics in my notebook instead of paying attention in math class. Except Sanders draws way better than I drew when I was seven, so it's gonna look, like, 200 times better, and it's almost ten times as long, so that means it's about 2 million times the best comic I ever did in class.”
