#144 • hopped from San Diego to NYC for an MK12 thing. Will be here for a few days and thus not around very much.
• speaking of, MK12 v.4.uh...6 should be up soon. all of our work to date and some sort of blog functionality and all that shit. I'll post something here when it is. Oh, and a store. A web store. On the web. The INTERweb.
• SD was fun and fast. It feels like a hectic afternoon and not three days.
• New Hives isn't so good.
• Hudlin/McGruder/Baker's BIRTH OF A NATION is great.
• So is Rucka's QUEEN & COUNTRY novel, which I read on two planes in one fast and anxious gulp. It's like the ALIAS Super Bowl episode: you can jump in cold and get in on the best regular book in comics, and the Q&C hardcore will have their minds fucking blown.
• I am staying at the Gershwin Hotel. It's like the Hotel Earle, but FABULOUS.
• I think Mr. Eisner called it "FDW" and not "IDW" at one point; we decided the F stood for 'Fuckin' Will Eisner.'
• The Basement Tapes, a column by me and Joe Casey, goes live today. Give it a read, if you've the inclination.
• The answer to the SDCC question no one seems to be answering yet: No, The Wachowski Brother was not attending dressed as a woman. Yes, he did look sorta weird. Like, really weird. But no dress, no boobs, none of that. (I saw them both after Dan's panel, which was just down the hall from theirs; one bumped into me, the other into Kel as they went by.) FYI.
