On top of everything leading into the holiday-- a spontaneous pitch-trip to LA, Kel getting some kind of combustible food poison barfsplosion the night before we left town, and then actually leaving town, I wrote the backmatter for CASANOVA #7. Then, after writing the backmatter-- which, I'll blow for you now, sort of ends with me insisting to the universe that I can roll with whatever the hell punches it cares to throw-- I spent the rest of the holiday week sick and Xmas day in the Actual Fucking Emergency Room.

I'm okay now, but still, it was a hell of a vacation, kids, and I'm glad to be back at it and, uh, not in a goddamn hospital any more.

But, hey, the good news is I have the opening for CASANOVA #8.

(I just realized I should've scanned my little wrist-tag thingy to post with this, but I tore the fucking thing off as soon as I got outside. Selah.)

Anyway. I burned through the lead-time I bought going into the holiday, but that's okay. I love this week. It's that weird null-time, like the whole world hit the snooze button and kind of wants to catch just ten more minutes of sleep. I'm creeping back to life and getting back to work, too, and it feels good to be of some use again.

Tonight I'm doing the last dialogue pass on my Spider-Man romance comic that Salvador Larocca's drawn-- and, hoo, man, it looks great-- before it goes to the letterer. It's not on the schedule yet but when it comes out I'm gonna be like the GRIT kid and whipping those fuckers around like the Sunday paper to anybody I see.

Then it's the last PWJ #3 proof before it goes to press. This week holds more, but that's more than enough for tonight, I think.

Anyway. I hope you survived your holidays too, and I hope you feel as ferocious towards 2007 as I do.
